Morning Routine Inspiration & Ideas
Starting a new routine can be challenging, especially if you're lacking in ideas, inspiration, or structure. This article is just a play by play of my typical morning routine to help you with those three things.
I'm not including much detail on specific times for doing things because it doesn't really matter. We all have such different lives and schedules, so take these things and make them your own.
This is the journal and planner I use during this routine.
Wake up early
For me somewhere between 5:30-6:30 is typical and gives me some good time to myself before baby wakes up.
Start with coffee
I have really a hard time focusing in the morning. Coffee doesn't fix it 100%, but it helps! Sometimes, if I feel like it, I'll make a latte or cold foam to spice things up and make this even more of a special little treat.
Prayer to learn, receive, and focus
Before you jump head first into this routine every day, get yourself in the right mindset to fully understand and apply what you're reading to your life and quiet outside noises and distractions as you pray, meditate, and manifest.
Read something for personal development, spiritual growth, etc
Don't rush through this. If you're pressed for time, select something that's a quick read. For me, it's a devotional with biblical text(s). Remember, this is not about going through the motions.
Gratitude
I am so happy to say this is my longest step, it means I have so much to be grateful for. The more you practice expressing gratitude, the more you realize you have to be grateful for. It's a cool practice to see unfold and grow. Express gratitude for everything from your food in the fridge to your health, wellness, and capabilities.
Pray blessings over others
Let this one move through you. By that I mean, pray for whoever comes to mind. I have a routine of praying for my family and friends and things I know they're dealing with, then I take a moment and practice praying for whoever comes to mind, even if it's people who have wronged me (very tough to do but good practice to let things go and rise above).
Desires
There's a few actions to take around this one. First you need to identify your real desires. This is best done by taking time to write your desires down before beginning this whole routine just so it doesn't take forever. So tonight, write them down, tomorrow morning go through these steps. Once you have a list of these desires, your morning practice is to visualize, pray for, and manifest these things. This can be fun and is probably my second longest step.
Say affirmations out loud
Speak your personal affirmations as if they are already your reality, regardless of where you're at in life. These things often are reflections of your desires and personal goals, or possibly things you struggle with. It's a good idea to write these down with your desires notes.
Final prayer
Pray for blessings over your efforts. It takes time and effort to sit down and practice mindfulness like this. Pray that you maintain this refreshed and motivated mindset throughout your day. Pray that you receive your desires. Pray that you can apply things you've learned to your day. Pray for direction moving forward.
Like I said earlier, make this your own! I really value the order that I go in here, emphasizing putting gratitude and others before my own desires and sandwiching the whole thing in prayer. But do it your way and enjoy it. I take such pleasure in this practice that I nearly jump out of bed every morning to do it. I hope this helps you on your journey!
